Aogu supplies food additive ferric citrate CAS number 3522-50-7 in powder ferric citrate

Ferric citrate is used to control phosphorus levels in adults with chronic kidney disease who are on dialysis. Ferric citrate is also used to treat iron deficiency anemia in adults with chronic kidney disease who are not on dialysis.
Ferric citrate contains iron that binds to the phosphates you take in through food, which helps your body absorb fewer phosphates. This can lower the amount of phosphorus (a mineral) in your blood.

Ferric citrate - Physical property and Chemical property

Properties: Dark green powder
Solubility: Insoluble in ethanol, slowly dissolved in cold water, in hot water is very soluble.
The aqueous solution is acidic and gradually reduces to ferrite under the influence of light and heat.

Ferric citrate -Preparation method

1. Add citric acid into the ferric hydroxide solution, heat it to below 60℃, evaporate and concentrate it into slurry, and dry it on the glass plate at low temperature.
2. Add ammonia water to ferric sulfate solution to generate ferric hydroxide precipitation. Filter and wash until no sulfuric acid reaction. Add citric acid, stir and heat to below 60℃ to dissolve all precipitates, then strain. The filtrate is concentrated into syrup by heating below 60℃, coated into a thin layer on the glass plate to form small leaves, peeled off, warm and dry.

Used as iron fortification agent and nutrient supplement. Used for biscuits, calcium milk powder, etc. Used as radiopharmaceuticals to detect iron metabolism and hematopoietic function.
